USGC Hosts Mexican Brewing Team to Promote US Barley

Direct contracting barley is a crucial aspect of the barley procurement practice in the brewing industry. Over the past 10 years, the U.S. Grains Council has hosted Mexican brewing teams with representatives from Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma (CCM) and Grupo Modelo in an effort to connect with U.S. barley growers and update them on the status of the U.S. barley crop.
USGC Korea Hosts Seminar on US Barley

Last month, the U.S. Grains Council, in cooperation with McKay Seed Company Inc., conducted a seminar on U.S. barley for 19 barley millers, processors, importer-distributers and food manufacturers in Seoul, South Korea.
Mckay Seed Co.'s CEO Dan W. McKay gave a presentation on all aspects of U.S. barley, including U.S. barley production and export, the various types of barley produced in the United States, barley grades and grade requirements, and the importance of high beta glucan barley.

Japanese government biotechnology regulatory officials, like other Japanese central government officers, rotate every two to four years. Keeping new officials fully informed of the latest issues in biotech is a constant challenge. Last week, in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, the U.S. Grains Council hosted a team of Japanese regulators, who visited the United States to learn about the scientific risk assessment of U.S. agricultural biotech products and the production and trade of such products.
