Good News, Cautious Optimism from USDA on 2013 Crop

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released its May 2013 World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) last week. This is the first WASDE to provide official USDA supply-demand estimates for the 2013/14 crop. The estimates will be updated monthly. Update: USGC Co-Products Conference

P5091953The second half of the U.S. Grains Council's Co-Products Conference ended in Tokyo, Japan last week. While in Korea, the conference was met with positive feedback, and similar sentiments were expressed in Japan.

MAIZALL Launched; US, Argentina, Brazil Corn Alliance a Reality

MAIZALL Logo 4c"The major corn exporting countries have a tremendous opportunity," said U.S. Grains Council Chairman Don Fast, "and the formation this week of the MAIZALL Alliance is a big step towards turning that opportunity into a reality."

MAIZALL is an alliance of the leading corn sector producer organizations in the three leading corn exporting countries, the United States, Brazil, and Argentina. A formal memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed May 14 by the presidents/chairmen of the U.S. Grains Council, the National Corn Growers Association, ABRAMHILO (Brazil), and MAIZAR (Argentina). The signing was the signature event of the 2013 MAIZAR national conference in Buenos Aires.

Corn Growers from North and South America Form Alliance

A memorandum of understanding was signed Tuesday to form an alliance of North and South American maize producers. U.S. Grains Council President and CEO Tom Sleight says the U.S. Grains Council, National Corn Growers Association, MAIZAR and ABRAMILHO will function under the name MAIZALL - The International Maize Alliance.
