    Colombia-Corn-ImportsU.S. Grains Council director in Latin America Kurt Shultz traveled to Colombia last week to find the lack of progress on the U.S.-Colombia Free-Trade Agreement (FTA) is continuing to have a devastating impact on U.S. corn, soybean and wheat producers. Colombia is a traditional market for U.S. corn producers, importing approximately 3 million metric tons (118 million bushels) of yellow corn annually.

The Council is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and has 10 international offices and active market development programs in more than 50 countries. Financial support from the Council’s private industry members, including state checkoffs, agribusinesses, state entities and others, triggers federal matching funds from the government and support from cooperating groups in other countries, producing an annual market development program valued at more than $26 million.
